The Dalai Lama on his 80th Birthday event

July 6, 2015

Being with the Dalai Lama on his 80th birthday last Saturday as he leads a meditation on compassion and world peace. A special event literally in the middle of paradise CA. I was so honored to have been a apart of it.

I think the key things that I took away from his beautiful speech was, even the Dalai Lama considers himself to just be another person on this planet. He is no more or no less than one of the 7 billion people on this earth. He even starts his speech with "I don't know! Don't ask me. I just know how to eat." He did speek to what we need to focus our efforts on in todays world which is compassion and education. Both of which are subjects that are not at the standards they should be at today. He gave a beautiful example of children when they play. They never ask what faith or what ethnicity they are before they play. They just play with an open heart. We should follow the examples of our children.

In thinking back to the Dalai Lama's incredible life story, I remembered that he was no more a child himself when he was deemed to be the next reincarnation of the Dalai Lama. I wonder, if he wasn't selected or if he was never found, what life path would he have chosen? Would it have effected the rest of the world like he does today? Or would it be something completely opposite? Food for thought. Every action has a reaction.
